The closest cast i've ever had

Shakespeare's: The Comedy of Errors

The past 3 months has been incredible and I have formed friendships with so many people
It's been a week since the show ended and I miss the cast, production team, and crew so much. I do go to school with everyone, but it's not the same. I wish we cold go back to do the show one more time.

One moment that really hit me hard was right before out last show. Our sat us all down in our normal section of the audience where we all sat for notes. He said "okay if anyone has something to say this is the time." One by one my fellow cast mates and I got up to say something about how much we meant to each other. I didn't realize how much I loved everyone until this moment. I was crying, the rest of the girls, even the boys were crying.  Then it was time for our director to say a few words...
He told us how proud he was of us. Then he said how he might not be returning in the fall because his job teaching at the school was not guaranteed yet. That was when I understood how much of an impact this man had on me. He taught me so much this past year. His wife (our costumer) aways said how she thought of all of us as her kids since her and our director couldn't have kids of their own. She would call me their baby. If they don't get to come back in the fall I'll at least have my memories of this fantastic show to remind of them and the rest of the cast.

Becoming a Mermaid

I'm currently in Shakespeare's: Comedy of Errors. I have been given the honor of playing Luciana in this production. My character is referred to as a mermaid a few time in the show, so our director decided to design my character around that. Our costumer and I have had a few trial runs of my makeup, but i wanted to share our third try with you.

We used a pair of fishnet stocking and sponged on makeup over the stockings to get the  scale effect. For the blue eyebrows we glued them down, then put a kind of powder then a concealer over the eyebrows, and then we put on a blue creamy makeup over that. For the teal color under my eyes (and that was also used in the scales) we used Maybelline Color Tattoo Tenacious Teal. Finally for the dark blue lips we used a skin tone lipgloss and mixed it with a dark blue eyeshadow.

Stay tuned for more amazing makeup and costume picture from the show!

Just When I Thought it Wasn't Gonna Happen

This past fall I got the opportunity to become part of the show, Moon Over Buffalo, late into the rehearsal process. I had auditioned and originally not been cast in the show. A month or so later the director had asked to speak with me in private. It turned out that there were a few members of the ensemble the had dropped out of the show. The director had not wanted to give me an ensemble part originally because he thought my talent would be wasted, and the way the casting fell I had not fit the look of the principle roles. However, he asked me if I wanted to join the show and I accepted the offer. The cast was so welcoming, and I fit right in with them.  I got the chance to dress like Rosie the Riveter (picture below), form bonds with people I would not have meet if I hadn't accepted the part. Now I'm on to the next show and can't wait. We're only a couple weeks into the rehearsal process,  but I have a good feeling about it :)
